For Warp & Weft the concept of sustainability has been an inherent part of our business since we first started selling exceptional antique and period carpets. Made of natural fibers and dyes, these carpets were sustainable long before the circumstances of this time made sustainability an imperative course of action. Times change of course, and so too has our approach to suitability.
Foremost is our commitment to a balanced wholistic approach to sustainability which works toward heeding the needs of the environment, while also incorporating the human element by engaging in long-term fostering relationships with our employees, vendors, and clientele. We have come to understand that only through business practices which encourage longevity are we able to affect meaningful positive change; both for people and the planet.
One such long term commitment is our association with GoodWeave which provides assurance that the rug was crafted by skilled adult artisans, not by child labor.
Equally as important is our commitment to the environment. With tradition as our guide, we endeavor to use only natural fibers as well as synthetic fibers that can biodegrade, thus completing a cycle of circular design in most of our products. Additionally, our hand knotted modern carpets from Nepal and Afghanistan are washed in state-of-the-art facilities in Switzerland to avoid overburdening their fragile water systems. And for design applications which require the performance profile of a highly durable synthetic fiber, we also offer AquaSlk, a fiber created from plastic ocean waste.
