This sweetly delicate Lori Pelas has a design of fine vertical stripes in varying shades of tan and ivory. The effect is almost biomorphic, like the striated grain of exotic hardwood. But a careful look will show that the design is quite deliberately articulated, with precise repeating patterns or rhythms. At various intervals there are narrow elaborately corded bands that also help to articulate the overall organization of the design. The incredible softness of the all-natural, undyed color palette here is exceptional, even among tone-on-tone kilims of this genre.
