GRID, a Yabu Pushelberg designed collection of rugs for Warp & Weft, was inspired by the right angles and geometry of modern urban topography – the rigidity of city streets softened and simplified on a one-dimensional plane. Depth and interest are created through the use of tone and texture together with the deconstruction of the grid-like patterns. The intersection of right angles is refined by abstracting the grid; deleted lines and fragmented patterning, at times also pivoted on axis, create variants of the same theme.
Inspired by flat-woven techniques, the rugs were conceived to celebrate the quality and integrity of the hand-woven process. Muted tonal colors paired with soft neutrals provide a palette that aspires to live comfortably amongst one’s existing collection of furnishings and compliment one’s life.
The collection overall presents a quiet, contemporary point of view through ordered compositions and thoughtful consideration of texture and line.
